Recent Milo Conversations

So here are some recent conversations we have had with Milo.

The scene - Mark was driving alone with Milo in the car.
Milo: Dad, can I tell you a secret?
Mark: Sure.
Milo: You can't tell Mom or Finn, okay?
Mark: (pausing because this could be momentous) Okay, I won't tell.
Milo: (in a soft and quiet voice, wistfully looking out the window) I have never had a kite.
(For the record, he has had a kite, but he was 2 and wasn't that into it. Why I am not allowed to know about this fact, I have no idea)

The scene - We were sitting at the kitchen table discussing reorganizing his toys
Me: So I think we need to clean up your toys and maybe reorganize them too
Milo: Okay that sounds like a good plan
Me: Great, I am going to get some bins we can label, and we will put your toys in them by category. All the dinosaurs together, all the super heroes together. And that way you can help keep track of them and put them away in the right place.
Milo: I know that Mom! That is what we do at school.
Me: Great, then this should work out perfectly.
Milo: Except at school Mom, we ALLLL help clean up but here, Finn never helps me.
Me: Honey he is working on it, he is just learning.
Milo: Mom, Finn just makes messes. Sometimes he (leans in and whispers) even just makes the mess on purpose. I have SEEN him.
(I cannot deny this last point, as I have seen with my own eyes Finn gleefully dump out the bucket of crayons for the sheer joy of seeing them fall.)

Scene: Lounging around on a Saturday at home, I had gone out to run errands and returned home in the afternoon.
Me: Milo Sheridan, are you still in your pjs?
Milo: Yup, Dad said I could be.
Me: (to Mark) You said he could be in his pjs all day?
Mark: Yeah, he said he wanted to be Hugh Hefner for a day.
Me: (to Milo) You said you want to be Hugh Hefner?
Milo: Yeah. Who is that guy Mom?
Me: (Ummm, umm, obviously the Hugh Hefner remark was just for me, he didn't explain it to Milo. Now quick how do I describe Hugh Hefner to a 4 year old????) He is a guy who wear his pjs all day long, and never changes into day time clothes and has lots of friends that are girls.
Milo: (thinking for a moment) Yeah Mom, I want to pretend I am that guy. I want to wear my pjs all day, and also I like girls too. (pronounced Gruls) So I will just be that guy today.
Me: Excellent (eye roll towards Mark for bringing this up)
