We are a family of toasters, mostly instigated by Milo. Milo loves to raise his glass and toast a variety of things. Of course he doesn't always limit himself to just raising a glass. These toasts cover all subjects and can come at any time during the dinner, much like a sneak attack. About to take a bite of stirfry? Suddenly Milo notices there is corn, yes "tiny corn" (said with the same amount of joy and wonder as if I just announced Buzz Lightyear would be joining us for dinner) in our meal, and we must toast to it. The corn is pierced upon the fork and raised up to the center of the table. "Let's toast to corn!" He will wait until Mark and I have joined his corn with a corn of our own, making sure they all touch and then yell, "yea corn!" Isn't dinner so much more fun like this?
Milo is really very thoughtful as there is always a toast for everyone at the table. We begin by toasting to Milo of course, followed usually by a toast for Mom and Dad. Occasionally we toast to other members of our family and famous people like Peter Pan.
At least once a week we toast to "Roo who we miss" complete with a sad face, lower lip out for extra emphasis. (Roo being our cat that passed away last November) And we toast to Alice, "who should leave our fish alone." Insert gaze at Alice sitting behind Milo precariously close to Apple the fish. Personally I think this toast was more of a passive aggressive chastisement than a toast. But who am I?

Milo is such a character and I love the toasting! I think we'll start this tradition at our family dinners as well! ;)
Does Milo take after big Nana or what? You know how Nana loves to toast and while we are eating, we will have no fewer than 4! "A toast...!"
