Mornings in Bed

7:00am is our get up time, every morning, come rain or shine, weekday or weekend. While I say 7:00am is our get up time, it isn't necessarily our wake up time, that is usually about 6:00am when Milo comes into our room to say hello and inform us the sun is up. I rarely get the opportunity to sleep in. My mornings are usually filled with the chatterings of a small boy about any number of topics ranging from the quantity of birds at our bird feeder to the ongoing feud between Peter Pan and Captain Hook. Add to this the soft cooings and babblings of Finn, most of which I take to be commentary on whatever his brother is talking about.

I relish these mornings with the boys. Mark usually attempts to sleep through this discourse. And while an extra hour of sleep does sound delicious most mornings, there are some mornings when it just fills my heart up with so much love I cannot breathe. These are my stolen moments, when the world and all it's craziness has not caught up with us yet. When the hustle and bustle of our day has not yet started. When I can actively partake in a discussion about why Buzz Lightyear is great and why Scooby Doo eats so much.

This was my morning today. This is why it was so difficult for me to get out of bed. Because my boys were just so sweet. Milo kissing Finn and holding his hand, telling him how much he loved him and Finn smiling back and kicking his legs with joy. And this is why I was eventually late for work.
