So last night I was able to sneak out of the house to have dinner with my dear friend who just moved back to AZ. I am so excited she is home and it was such a treat to have dinner out on a school night with my oldest and closest friend again. I left Mark home with Milo and Finn and slipped out for a couple of hours.
Milo was only too happy to see me go. Daddy had promised him that they could watch baseball while Mom was gone. Mom's rule is no TV after dinner on a school night but when Mom isn't around, I am fully aware that the rules get bent slightly. I know this makes it a bit more fun for Milo and one day I am sure Finn will benefit from this too. However when I returned home I found Dad and Milo on my bed, covers all rumpled up (as if someone has been jumping on the bed), the pillows in a big pile (like a mountain) and watching baseball. Finn laying in his cradle laughing and kicking his legs while chewing on his blanket. The boys were not only alive but really really happy and having a blast in a Mom-free home. Good to know.
I asked Milo if he was learning very much about baseball by watching with his Dad. Milo nods his head and points at the TV and says, "those are the mean guys." I glance at the TV, see not Megatron, not Captain Hook, not a mean witch (our regular bad guys) but rather the Colorado Rockies up to bat. I tried to correct Milo, he looks at Mark, and Mark says, "No that's right Milo the guys in white are the bad guys, who are the good guys?" Milo responds, "Diamondbacks!" A huge grin is plastered on Milo's face and on Mark's. Baseball bonding has begun with my boys and I couldn't be happier. I suspect Mom will be pushed out of the house a bit more frequently if it means that they get to snuggle on the bed and watch baseball, break the Mom rules and cheer on our team together.
