A bit of gardening

The gardening torch has at long last been passed on to Finn. I have noticed for many months that Finn appreciates, loves and needs to be outside in order to be happy. He often motions with a half way pointed finger towards the great outdoors whenever we pass a window or door. And woe betide the parent who has gone outside without him. You will be greeted with scorn upon your reentry. While he is waiting for you to return he will sink to the ground in a puddle of sorrow with his forehead on the ground wimpering at first which will escalate into sobs.

Mark has allowed Milo to help with the garden for a while. Milo has even his very own pumpkin plant growing which must be inspected every day for growth. Mark has finally allowed Finn to participate albeit only to water a small portion of the garden. Which is all for the best because Finn still has tiny arms and cannot reach to the back of the garden even with the extender on the hose.


Milo is thrilled that his brother is in the garden and loves to "help" him water and show him how he can be improving on his gardening skills.


Finn on the other hand is not so sure of this "help" he is being offered as he likes to be in control of the much coveted hose. Milo was not allowed even to hold it or Finn would start shrieking in alarm and look to me to help him plead his case. I assured Milo that someday Finn would tire of this watering game, but in the meantime we had to be patient and allow him the thrill of watering since he is still to small to wield the shovel, rake or trowel. Milo was also quick to point out that babies also don't have gardening "glubs" either. At which point he donned those gloves and went to work tending his pumpkin.
