I finally enrolled Milo in swim lessons. We had been talking about enrolling him in some activity or group or something extra this summer. Just something to keep him active during the hot summer months when it is unbearable to go outside until 4pm.
At age 2 he was fearless and would jump into the pool with Mark off the diving board. He would have tantrums when we attempted to drag him out of the water. At age 3 he was hesitant and I was lucky to get him off the steps. So at age 4 before we even set foot in our pool this summer I knew that swimming lessons would be in order.
We come from a family of great swimmers or at the very least very enthusiastic people in the water. My uncle Jay was a great swimmer. Award winning and to this day I love to look at the medals he earned which my Grammy keeps displayed at her house. It is inspiring to know that someone I am related to held such a passion and was so talented at it.
I was never what you would call a great swimmer, certainly not of the caliber that my uncle was. However I loved to be in the water. I had many a summer where my tresses took on a green tint from too much time in the chlorine. My cousins and I would spend hours in the pool pretending to be mermaids. It was a favorite past time of ours. But really when you are little and you live in Arizona it is the only reasonable past time in the summer to have unless you are going to veg in front of the tv. But we had way too much imagination to waste our summers doing that, so mermaids it was.
I had high hopes that Milo would outgrow this caution and become the great swimmer I know he is destined to be. Or at the very least be an enthusiastic water person. And so we embarked upon swim lessons and I was right. Milo loves it. Milo adores swim lessons and is so eager to show me what he learned at swim school when we get home. He even remarked to me after swim lesson #2, "Mommy, I love swim school more than Transformers." Now if you have been keeping up with this blog you are very well aware of exactly how momentous a statement that is.
His turn to float.

OMG this is so cute! It's awesome that he loves his lessons. I hope Ryan grows out of his fears. He loves the pool but hates getting his head wet - even in the tub when I rinse out the shampoo! I have always had fears of the water so I want him to do better than me. You should be very proud of Milo. He looks so cute!
Thanks, he is just the cutest in the water. He more than any of the other 3 in his class just gets so excited when he is there. He runs out of the door into the pool.
