All God's Creatures

Milo's Thanksgiving Turkey Card

Catholic School has been wonderful for Milo, as of course we knew it would be. Probably the thing I value the most is that he gets to blend discussion of God in his everyday school life. He asks more questions of us and I am giving him answers that mirror what he is learning in school. It is a nice little circle. Sometimes however he reminds me in my everyday life of what he is learning at school.

The other day we arrived home from school/work and Mark and Milo went to check the mail. Mark opened the front door to get the mail and a small cricket stood on the threshold of our house. It is getting crisp outside (for Arizona) and I am sure he just wanted to peek inside to the warmth. Perhaps he was the little matchgirl of the cricket world, we shall never know....

Mark: Milo watch out there is a cricket right there, don't step on it.
Milo: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!! (much screaming and freaking out ensued) DO NOT let that cricket come inside Dad!!
Mark: (scooping up the cricket) It is just a cricket for heavens sake, I will throw him outside.
Milo: (Gasp) NO Dad, you cannot do that, it is cold outside and he will die.
Mark: Well you were freaking out and didn't want him inside. Now all of a sudden why can't he be outside?
Milo: He is one of God's creatures. And we have to help him.
Mark: (throwing on his wit and charm and Dad logic) Well God made nature so that he could give all the crickets of the world the opportunity to live outside. Lets not deprive this cricket of God's nature, okay?
Milo: Okay Dad, but don't bring him near me, I don't want to touch him.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
We are thankful for all our Family and Friends
and all of God's Creatures of course.
Much love - Mark, Andria, Milo, Finn and Alice
